The accordion takes on a whole different personality when Azhar Hussain begins to play it, knowing equally well on how to hold an audience captive. Inspired by his music teacher, Mrs. Hardings who played the piano, Hussain begun to play music professionally around 1968 in Lahore.

Arriving in the scene at a time when real time playing was essential, he’s fortunate enough to have worked with the premier classic musicians of the Pakistani film industry such as, Master Sadiq, Noor Jehan, Mehdi Hasan, Ahmed Rushdie and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. In the more current scene, he has recorded with Sajjad Ali and Ali Haider.

Azhar Hussain will feature on Coke Studio, Season 9, as a guest musician with his simple, calm and melodious tunes.
